Spalted wood  is a  subtle coloring, some of its like black or white ink swirls in the grain. It’s actually  caused by fungus in a tree. Spalted wood has been long prized by woodworkers for its uniquely beautiful grain, and has been recently incorporated into high end design.

Hackberry has its own particular color and grain and along with spalting becomes very interesting to look at. The slabs listed below have been flattened and planed.
